rape hits

Although the news has largely focused on the horrific, violent and graphic accounts of sexual assault in the United States, the statistics on rape in India aren’t just frightening; they also make it clear that this issue is still a huge issue for women in India. The data from the National Crime Records Bureau shows that the number of rape cases in India reached a high in 1997, when the number of cases rose to a record 5,959.

The last time the number of rape cases in India was so high was in the 1990s, when the number of cases reached an all-time high of 14,841. This was because then the government began to push the law to include rape as a crime at the age of 13. Despite being a crime at 13, rape was not criminalised and was not treated as a crime until the age of 18.

But while the number of rape cases may have been high, it was not as high as many people think. The reason why is because the law was not enforced. A survey of 1,000 women in Bangalore found that only 6% said they had faced rape before the age of 18.

The reason? A very simple one, the government did not bother to enforce the law, so few women were ever brought to court to prove their innocence and those that faced the law had no chance of getting their charges reduced when the judge knew they were lying.

The truth is that the law was not enforced. There is no law in India that says you cannot be raped on a bus or in a bar. We do not have laws that say you cannot be raped in the home. In fact, many laws in India that say you cannot be raped anywhere, have never been enforced. The law is not enforced because the people who are supposed to enforce it are not interested in doing so. The people who enforce the law are scared of the law itself.

The rape of women is one of the biggest problems that India faces. As if it weren’t enough that the Indian government is unable to do anything about it, they’re also scared of the law itself.

Although you may not be aware of it, rape is a major problem in India because in its own country there are no laws that address this issue. The problem here is that the Indian laws are too weak and the women who are raped are too weak to make their voices heard. Women are afraid to complain about the rapes because theyre afraid the rapists will go free.
